Tennis bracelets can be thought of as alliance rings for your wrist. Now commonly known as a “tennis bracelet”, bracelets in this style actually date back to the 1920s and were originally called “line bracelets”.
Women of the Roaring Twenties piled multiple bracelets and bangles far up their arms in the spirit of extravagance common at the time. It was not until the 1970s that the line bracelet became known as the tennis bracelet. Three-time tennis champion Chris Evert was known for wearing her diamond bangles during tennis matches and during one match, the jewellery flew off her wrist; she stopped play until it was safely recovered, establishing the name tennis bracelet. A truly timeless piece of jewellery, perfect to wear on any occasion and with any outfit, from a wedding dress to jeans and a t-shirt.
